I’m excited to offer a brand-new to the market billet aluminum oversize intermediate clutch piston for both the 4L80e and the Turbo 400. Designed by Cesar Enriquez at The Horsepower Factory.
This is a great way to increase the power holding capacity in second gear. This will come in especially handy in builds that are using the OEM case and limited to a max line pressure of about 220psi. I will say that due to the increase in overall clutch apply pressure this ought to be used with a billet Intermediate pressure plate and billet case saver if you’re going to be running the max pressure (220 is considered the industry-wide “safe-high-limit” for oem cases)
This will include an early 400 type steel spring retainer and the appropriate lip seal (Turbo400 cast forward and direct drum piston stretches to fit and works perfect!) you will reuse the OEM snap ring and between 3 and 12 of the oem springs as per your preference.
The OEM piston has fluid apply surface area of 24.665in² and the BIllet OSCS HPF piston has a fluid apply surface area of 29.206in² which is an increase of 18.4%
say goodbye to burnt second gear clutches! (assuming you are not starving for oil and just overpowering the small 4 friction OEM stack.
The Center Support piston must be bored and polished to 6.130”± .005”
The piston is also so large that you may need to install the piston, springs, spring retainer and retainer snapring after CS is installed and CS bevel snapring to case is installed. Your particular case make vary somewhat.
If this if more work that you wish to take on, I will have a limited supply of completed 4L80e and 400 Center supports pre-machined and assembled.
$155+shipping (flat rate of $25, usps priority)
