I have customers from 2015 who still use me to refresh their big power drag and drive units. About Me? I’ve been a mechanic, machinist, fabricator, and weldor my entire working life. I’m a motorsport enthusiast with a particular interest in the LSx platform. My business goal is to provide top-shelf 4L80e’s and TH400’s for performance applications. Independence Driveline (formerly FTI Performance Parts) FTI Converters, ATI, Coan Racing, Circle D Specialties and Reid Racing, Extreme Automatics, Automatic Transmission Design as well as a few others. Last year (2025) saw my jump into the performance torque converter building and repair world. I have really enjoyed learning how to get the desired characteristics from a given size converter. It’s a fascinating trade and dare I say artform. New for 2026 I’ve decided to pursue the gold standard of performance transmission carry-outs, a transmission dyno for testing and documenting pressures and functions. I’m proud to announce I now own an Intercont transmission dynamometer. I am excited to increase the quality of my existing units, and have the ability to test new hydraulic circuit changes, converter feed dump set ups and transbrake operation.

Late 2025 I added the ATI CW3 to my growing inventory of machines. With this machine I can now reliably and repeatably create some of the finest hand tig brazed high horsepower torque converters in the area—and the nation!
My new race car: 1980 fox mustang coupe
The G-Body project was sold off last winter so I can focus on going faster! The fox platform is an easy choice for those that want to go fast on a budget. The unibody construction ensures a very lightweight outcome. Even with all original glass and steel it will be under 3000lbs race weight. It’s powered by a stock bore LC9 with forged internals, Wilkes Performance cathedral-port heads and a BTR stage 3 turbo cam. Turbo is an HD8088 from Forced Performance. I’ll be keeping the heads buttoned down with 1/2” ford cleveland studs.
Unlike my previous race cars I’ll be using the tried and true Turbo-Hydramatic 400. For a true race-only application the simplicity of the TH400 cant be beat. Thankfully as the predecessor the the 4L80e, it shares many of the same internals and the same modifications can make the factory internals handle 800+HP at the wheels! Incredible bang for your buck! This unit will sport a billet input, an SFI bell and a 1st & 2nd gear leave reverse manual pattern valve body from Extreme Automatics. I will be using this car as a test bed for my entry into converter building and will sport one of my first in-house built converters…more details to come!
The Brown Bomber did it!
After two seasons battling fuel delivery issues it finally ran the 9.xx pass I coveted. I have sold the car and it’s new owner continues to enjoy it as a fun and fast street car and doing drag and drive events with children in tow! My most recent upgrade has been to develop an oil pick-up with the filter at the rear of the pan so as not to starve the transmission on hard launches.
In early 2025 I had the pleasure to build two top shelf 4L80e’s. Reid cases with all the billet available. For multi day, multi track events with big horsepower aka drag and drive type cars, the 4L80e is king!
